About Me

Hi there. My name is Mel and I am a highly passionate professional photographer based on Sydney’s northern beaches.

I am a mum to two beautiful boys and specialise in capturing the special moments of family life from maternity, birth and newborn through to family, special events and wedding photography.

Before starting Melrose Lane Photography in 2016 I worked as a high school art and photography teacher and have over 10 years experience teaching in Sydney’s most prestigious private schools. I inspired a love of photography in my students, many of whom have gone on to study and build their careers in art and photography.

I have a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts and Art Education majoring in photo media from the College of Fine Arts (COFA) and a Masters degree in Art History and Curatorship from Sydney University.

Throughout my 10 year teaching career I continued to travel and hone my skills in both landscape and portrait photography. Becoming a mother in 2016 gave me a new perspective in capturing the magical moments of parenthood and baby’s first years of life.

Through my lens I will capture the intimacy of family life creating memories that you will cherish for years to come.

My newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home and I provide a unique range of handmade outfits and props for your baby.  My family sessions take place in the natural landscape at a location of your choice. My style is natural composed with a vintage touch and minimal editing to emphasise the beauty of love and life.
